Learning Styles.

Kolb's learning cycle is based on Jean Piaget's focus where the learners create knowledge through interaction with the environment.

David Kolb analyzed basically four stages: concrete learning, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation.

All the stages work together to create the learning process. There are learners who prefer abstract and active stages while others choose concrete and reflective experiences. Roger Fry worked with Kolb to identify four learning styles.

Peter Honey and Alan Mumford adapted Kolb's model and summarized the styles into four of them:

VAK is the Sensory Learning Style and uses the three main sensory receivers: visual, kinesthetic, and auditory.

Motivation:

Motivation is the process that initiates and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. Motivations involve the biological, emotional, social, and cognitive forces that activate behavior.

Motivation plays a huge role in how students learn and perform in school and life. Motivation is a complex concept and we can identify two kinds: intrinsic and extrinsic which refer to where your motivations come from, whether it is within you or outside of you.

Conclusions:

Everyone is different. Each one has its own learning style, and each style has advantages and disadvantages. Two different visual students might differ very much in what works for each of them. Find your preferences and get a better idea of what works for you. When you discover your learning style you can employ techniques that will improve the quality of your learning.

The presence of motivators causes students to work harder. When you set and achieve goals you feel happy and motivated and you wish to continue to set new goals for yourself.
